Arctic gas discovery delivers record flow rate

Flow tests continue on Gazprom’s Leningradskoye discovery well in the Kara Sea offshore north-west Russia.

Current tests are focused on the upper levels of the well, with flow rates having exceeded 1 MMcm/d of gas.

This is a record-high for any field on the Russian Arctic shelf, the company said, adding that the productivity is much higher than anticipated.

The Leningradskoye gas and condensate field is part of the Leningradsky licensed block, close to the Yamal gas production centre.

Gazprom estimates the field’s recoverable gas resources at 1.9 tcm.
