Arnlea launches new version of inspection software for hazardous areas

Arnlea, a global leader in industrial mobile software for tracking, inspection and maintenance work in the oil and gas industry, has launched a new version of its software product for use in hazardous areas of operations.

The upgraded IntrinsixEX is set to capitalise on the increasing demand for digitalisation and data gathering solutions across the energy sector.

IntrinsixEX involves the use of handheld technology to provide visibility, accuracy and control of assets. It therefore assists to improve efficiency and reliability and, ultimately, extend the life of the asset.

Arnlea’s IntrinsixEX solution plays a central role in helping companies to comply with ATEX industry regulations and IEC 60079 standards as part of the management of hazardous areas and equipment.

Its introduction is part of a four-year £2 million product investment programme undertaken by Aberdeen-based Arnlea, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2019.

Following discussions with clients, the new version of the software has improved the user experience, with greater functionality on tablet devices. This includes the ability to capture photographs to allow new and old images of items to be viewed and compared.

In addition, recent enhancements to RFID (radio frequency identification) bluetooth readers have been taken into account and are compatible with IntrinsixEX, which now offers greater document storage capacity.

Allan Merritt, managing director at Arnlea, said: “Arnlea’s software solutions – including IntrinsixEX – save time and money, as well as improving consistency in processes and data.

“This allows for greater project understanding and better decision making in the tracking, inspection and maintenance arenas. It shows we’re committed to using our 25 years of experience in this market to deliver new solutions trusted by global oil and gas businesses.

“The new version of IntrinsixEX keeps us, and our clients, ahead of the game. Our product reduces costs associated with inspections in hazardous environments through the implementation of risk-based strategies. It optimises mobility, data capture and asset management.

“IntrinsixEX uses mobile auto-ID technology such as RFID tags and barcodes alongside strategies including risk-based inspections (RBI). The product delivers real operational efficiency, asset integrity and regulatory compliance, while improving safety.

“Due to our early adoption of digital and data solutions, Arnlea is ideally placed to respond to growing industry demands for flexible, cloud-based solutions.”

In addition, current licensed software users, which include oil and gas operators, can be seamlessly upgraded to the improved product.

The company also has modules of Intrinsix for inspection and maintenance with hazardous environments, and for materials management. The solutions use mobile auto-ID technology such as RFID, barcodes, tablets and smartphones. IntrinsixIM and IntrinsixMM – as with IntrinsixEX – can operate standalone or integrated with a client’s corporate systems.

Intrinsix enables the receipt, management and relocation of inventory, the visibility and traceability of equipment in logistics activities and the history and condition of an asset. This allows for more efficient and effective inventory, maintenance and inspection strategies.

Arnlea works primarily with clients in the oil and gas industry. However, the company’s products are also used in other sectors, including pharmaceutical and food and drink.
