CNOOC kicks off production from oilfield offshore China

Chinese oil and gas company CNOOC Limited has started production from the Qinhuangdao 33-1S oilfield phase I project, located offshore China.

Qinhuangdao 33-1S oilfield is located in central and western Bohai with an average water depth of 21 metres.

It is one of ten projects expected to come on stream this year.

Announcing the project start-up on the 11th June, CNOOC said that it has built one wellhead platform.

The platform was built in addition to fully utilising the existing facilities of Qinhuangdao 33-1 oilfield and Qinhuangdao 32-6 oilfield.

A total of 13 producing wells are planned, including nine production wells and four water injection wells.

CNOOC expects the project to reach its peak production of approximately 6,000 barrels of crude oil per day in 2021.

CNOOC Limited holds a 100 per cent interest of Qinhuangdao 33-1S oilfield and acts as the operator.
