DEME installs SeaMade foundations offshore Belgium

DEME has installed 58 monopile foundations and two offshore substation foundations at the SeaMade offshore wind farm in the Belgian North Sea.

DEME’s Innovation began installation works in September 2019. The last monopile foundation landed on the seabed on the 2^nd January.

A new monopile gripper mounted on the Innovation was used during the foundation installation. According to the company, the pile gripper enabled the vessel to install the monopile foundations all year round.

For the vessel’s next project, a noise mitigation system will be integrated to minimise subsea noise during installation activities, the company said.

In spring 2020, the jack-up Apollo will start installing the Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy 8.4-MW turbines.

DEME will also install all inter-array cables with the cable lay vessel Living Stone after having installed the export cable.

The 487-MW SeaMade is the largest offshore wind farm in Belgium. Before the end of the year, SeaMade is expected to provide renewable energy to 485,000 households.
