Guyana and Brazil to lead demand for high capacity FPSOs

As activity picks up in the offshore oil and gas market, consultant Rystad Energy expects 33 FPSOs to be sanctioned from 2019 to 2021.

According to the consultant, 13 FPSOs will require a production capacity of less than 60,000 b/d, ten will require a capacity of between 80,000-150,000 b/d, five will require a production capacity between 60,000-80,000 b/d and five with a production capacity of more than 200,000 b/d.

This high capacity demand, Rystad points out, comes mainly from the developments in Guyana and Brazil where operators such as ExxonMobil, Equinor, and Petrobras are stepping up their deep-water production.
