Indonesia opens 2019’s second licence round

The government of Indonesia has opened the year’s second oil and gas licensing round, in which two of four blocks on offer were part of the earlier round, the Jakarta Post reports.

Oil production has occurred on one of the blocks, West Kampar on the border of Riau and North Sumatra provinces.

The other blocks, West Ganal and Kutai off East Kalimantan and Bone off South Sulawesi, are exploratory.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources opened the round the day after announcing licence awards for two blocks from the earlier round, which included West Ganal and West Kampar.

The West Ganal block was one of three areas which received first-round bids rejected as having failed to meet all auction requirements.

The new round will close on the 31st July.

The government uses a gross-split production-sharing contract
