NIOC reports gas strike in southern Iran

National Iranian Oil Company has reported a major discovery of natural gas in Fars Province, southern Iran.

It estimates the field, Eram, holds 13 tcf of recoverable gas with 19 tcf in place.

Eram is 200 kilometres south of Shiraz.

NIOC says the field is 50 kilometres long with an average width of five kilometres.
