PSA sanctions start-up preparations at two Norwegian fields

Equinor has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to use facilities to tie Wintershall Dea’s Dvalin subsea field development in the Norwegian Sea to the Heidrun field infrastructure.

Dvalin’s well stream will be exported to the Heidrun TLP for processing. From there the condensate will head to the floating storage and production vessel Heidrun B, with the gas sent via the Polarled pipeline to the Nyhamna processing complex on the mid-Norwegian west coast.

There are two separate structures, Dvalin East and Dvalin West. The former is 15 km (9.3 miles) north-west of the Heidrun field, while Dvalin West is 3.5 km (2.17 miles) west of Dvalin East.

Water depths range from 344-400 metres (1,128-1,312 feet).

Development involved installation of a subsea template with four gas producers tied-back to the Heidrun platform.

Production should start in late 2020.

Norske Shell has the PSA’s approval for start-up and operation this May of a new production well in 410 metres (1,345 feet) of water at the Knarr field in licence 373 S in the northern Norwegian North Sea.

Knarr, developed originally by BG Group, is 50 km (31 mlesi) north-east of the Snorre field.

The development comprises an FPSO and two subsea templates with six wells for production and injection.
