Single-well platform, tieback expected for Paus Biru offshore Indonesia

Cue Energy expects the partners in the Sampang PSC offshore Indonesia to submit a plan of development (PoD) soon for the Paus Biru gas discovery.

The PoD is based on a single horizontal development well, Paus Biru-2, a tripod wellhead platform (WHP), and a 27-km (16.8-mile) subsea pipeline which will be connected to the Oyong WHP.

Offshore New Zealand, the company is a partner in the Maari and Manaia fields. In both cases, oil output during 2Q was lower than in 1Q due to production disruptions in various wells.

Although operations continued through New Zealand’s nationwide COVID-19 lockdown, the MR6A and MR2 wells have been offline since March due to technical issues. The joint venture is working on a repair scenario for MR6A, and this will likely to be completed toward year-end.

Disruptions at the MR9 and MR7 were down to electric submersible pump failures. Both pumps should be replaced during the current quarter.

However, COVID-19 restrictions and entry processes for technicians into New Zealand will probably lead to minor cost increases and time delays.
