Wintershall Dea given consent for production drilling on the Vega field

Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority has given Wintershall Dea consent to use the West Mira mobile drilling facility for production drilling on the Vega field.

The facility is operated by Seadrill and received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA in 2019.

The wells will be drilled in production licence PL 248/248B and 090C. Drilling is expected to take up to 409 days.

Vega is a field located in the northern part of the North Sea, 28 kms west of the Gjøa field.

The water depth in the area is 370 metres.

The field has been developed with three subsea templates with four slots, tied to the processing facility on the Gjøa field.

Production started in 2010.
