Zarubezhneft joining Premier in gas-prospective blocks offshore Indonesia

Premier Oil plans further well interventions to improve production from its block A gas fields in the Natuna Sea offshore Indonesia.

The campaign, scheduled for 2021, will include well workovers and side-tracks on the Anoa field, infill drilling on Pelikan, and an appraisal well to test Anoa’s northern flank.

Last December, the company signed a Heads of Terms with Russia’s Zarubezhneft which would give the latter a 50% non-operated interest in the Tuna PSC. Terms should be signed shortly.

Zarubezhneft will carry Premier for its share of a two-well appraisal campaign later this year.

In January, Indonesia’s government awarded Premier a one-year extension to the PSC’s exploration period to cover both appraisal drilling and subsequent submission of a development plan by March 2021.

Elsewhere off Indonesia, the company last year farmed into 20% of the South Andaman and Andaman I PSCs in the South Andaman Sea, both recently covered by a new 3D seismic survey. Processing of the data has confirmed prospectivity.

Premier plans to drill its first well on its operated Andaman II licence in the first half of 2021, and believes its Andaman Sea portfolio could deliver multiple tcf of gas.
