BHGE allies with Siccar Point Energy for Cambo project west of Shetland

Siccar Point Energy Ltd will work with Baker Hughes to develop the Cambo field north-west of the Shetland Islands.

BHGE will act as the exclusive supplier to support the project’s appraisal and early production phases of the project, potentially expanding its role into the full-field development.

The scope will range from well service solutions for the appraisal well to manufacture and for the early development phase, installation of subsea production equipment and flexible pipes in partnership with Ocean Installer.

SPE says that unlike traditional, transactional relationships between suppliers and operators, this approach is designed to foster a long-term partnership which minimises tendering costs, improves execution efficiency and risk mitigation, and incentivises performance through the creation of shared project goals.

SPE gained a 100% interest in the Cambo field, discovered in 2002, 125 kilometres (77.7 miles) north-west of the Shetlands, from OMV early this year.

Five wells have been drilled on the structure so far.

The Phase 1 development will be an early production system, followed by a Phase 2 full-field development.

SPE plans initially to drill an appraisal well into the main reservoir sequence and undertake an extended well test in 2018 to provide critical data for design of the facilities.
