Borssele 1 & 2 foundations installed offshore the Netherlands

DEME Offshore’s installation vessel Innovation has installed 94 foundations at Ørsted’s Borssele 1 & 2 offshore wind farm in the Dutch North Sea.

Installation started in January. Despite COVID-19, the installation was completed on time, DEME said.

The Sif site in Rotterdam has been used as load out location for the foundations.

The 94 monopiles were fabricated by Sif and EEW SPC. The 94 transition pieces came from Bladt and EEW OSB.

Klaasjaap Buijs, Construction Manager for Borssele 1 & 2, said 74 of the 94 cables and 20 of the 94 turbines have been installed.

Borssele 1 & 2 is Ørsted’s first offshore wind farm in the Netherlands. It is 22 km (14 miles) off the coast of the Dutch province of Zeeland, in water depths ranging from 14 to 39.7 metres (46 to 130 feet).

The 752-MW offshore wind farm is expected to be completed this year.
