BP Awards Three Caspian Contracts

BP has awarded three new contracts for the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) oil and gas field offshore Azerbaijan, Saipem has reported.

Saipem, which won the engineering and construction contracts in a consortium with Boshelf LLC and START GULF FZCO, noted that two contracts cover pipeline design, pipelay and related activities.

In addition, the firm stated the third contract calls for transporting and installing four jacket pin piles, subsea structure and spools.

A key contractor in the ACG field since the 1990s, Saipem stated its total share of the overall value of the three contracts amounts to approximately US$145 million.

Located in the Caspian Sea approximately 120 kilometres from the Azerbaijan coast, ACG is one of the largest fields of its kind and encompasses an area exceeding 4,000 square kilometres.

According to BP’s website, the field produced an average of 584,000 barrels per day in 2018.
