Heerema to deliver Hollandse Kust (noord) substation jacket

Iemants has contracted Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) to construct the offshore transformer substation jacket for the Hollandse Kust (noord) wind farm in the Dutch North Sea.

The jacket is expected to be 44 metres (144 feet) high and consist of 1,600 tons of steel.

Construction will occur at the HFG Vlissingen yard. Fabrication is scheduled to begin this month and be completed by September 2021.

TenneT will be responsible for the design, fabrication, installation, and operation of the grid connections which will transport the generated electricity to shore.

Following a European tender procedure, TenneT selected the joint venture ENGIE Fabricom – Iemants to construct the offshore transformer station for the Hollandse Kust (noord) wind farm zone.

Hollandse Kust (noord) is expected to be operational by 2023.
