IOOC introduces PMS system for offshore Iran pipelines

Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) has developed Iran’s first offshore pipeline integrity management system (PMS), according to news service Shana.

This was to comply with international and national requirements for standard, safe and continuous operation of the gas pipelines of the Salman oil field in the Persian Gulf, in co-operation with a Norwegian contractor and the Pipeline Technology Company.

A PMS must provide a clear process, with tasks and responsibilities, a balance between risk analyses and pipeline integrity, clear data management, responsiveness to emergencies, an effective inspection and maintenance programme, and an effective evaluation cycle for continuous improvement (Plan, Do, Check, Act).

The focus is on risk management, in accordance with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) applicable to the operation.
