Iraq to join China’s Belt and Road Initiative

On the 24^th September Prime Minister Adel Abdel Mahdi reportedly said that Iraq will join China’s “Belt and Road” (One Belt One Road) initiative.

According to AFP, he made the announcement in a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping during a state visit to the country.

President Xi said that China would like “to push forward the China-Iraq strategic partnership.”
