Liuhua 29-2 gas field goes onstream offshore China

CNOOC has produced first gas from the deep-water Liuhua 29-2 field in the eastern South China Sea.

The field is in 750 metres (2,460 feet) water depth, 300 km (186 miles) south-east of Hong Kong. It produces via one well with a subsea wellhead, connected to existing production facilities serving Liwan 3-1 and other deep-water gas fields.

CNOOC expects peak production of around 41 MMcf/d later this year.
