Logistics groups supporting deep-water Merak well offshore Egypt

Pan Marine and Peterson are jointly providing supply base services to Dana Gas to support the deep-water Merak-1 exploration well in the N. El Arish concession in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.

The package includes logistics management for all supply base work at Abu Qir Port and providing the platform support vessel MV Sea Triumph.

Pan Marine has served the Egyptian oil and gas needs for over 40 years and this will be Peterson’s first move into the market.

The company plans to transfer to local personnel its knowledge of IT, IOSH and emergency response training, and its industry-recognised work procedures.

Kevin Wilson of Dana Gas said the two companies “mobilised competent and experienced personnel, certified mechanical handling equipment and a full package of operating standards and procedures in a very short period of time and manage marine operations on a dedicated berth with drilling bulks silos, the pipe storage yard, liquid mud plant and a muster area for containerised cargos.

“To date, following two months of full operations…there have been zero operational delays due to the shore base logistics service.”

The supply base management contract is for one well plus options.
