Pyi Thit well delivers gas for Woodside offshore Myanmar

Woodside Energy has completed this year’s exploration and appraisal drilling campaign offshore Myanmar.

The company plans to factor the results into its field development planning process in the region.

The Pyi Thit-1 well in offshore block A-6 intersected a gross gas column of around 65 metres (213 feet), with 36 metres (118 feet) of net pay interpreted within the main targeted interval.

A subsequent drillstem test flowed 50 MMcf/d over a 44-hr period with strong reservoir support.

However, the other two wells were unsuccessful. Pyi Tharyar-1 in the same block penetrated a thin column of gas-saturated sands, deemed sub-commercial, while Khayang Swal-1 in block AD-7 encountered water-wet sands.
