Saipem to install Courseulles-sur-Mer foundations offshore France

Eoliennes Offshore du Calvados SAS (EODC) has contracted Saipem to design, construct, and install 64 foundations for the Courseulles-sur-Mer wind farm offshore France.

The €460-million (US$555-million) contract is subject to a notice to proceed, which is contingent upon EODC making a positive final investment decision.

The foundations, which consist of large steel monopiles with transition pieces, will be fabricated in Europe and installed by the crane vessel Saipem 3000.

The Courseulles-sur-Mer offshore wind farm zone is located about 16 km (ten miles) off the coast of Calvados region, in water depths ranging from 22 to 31 metres (72 to 102 feet).

EODC is sponsored by a consortium of EDF Renewables, EIH Sàrl, a subsidiary of Enbridge, and wpd Offshore France.
