Shut-ins slow production at Lancaster west of Shetland

Oil production from the basement Lancaster field west of Shetland fell during 3Q, averaging 13,600 b/d compared with 14,300 b/d in 2Q, Hurricane Energy revealed in its latest update.

This was due to a shut-in of one of the two early production wells (205/21a-7z) from early August; a controlled shutdown of the FPSO Aoka Mizu for repairs in the same month, followed by a maintenance shutdown in early September; and a temporary shut-in of the 205/21a-6 well for data gathering purposes.

Current production of around 14,500 b/d comes solely from the 205/21a-6 well on natural flow, with a water cut of close to 19%.

The 17th cargo of Lancaster crude is scheduled for lifting later this month
