TGS expands seismic data bank offshore The Gambia

TGS is acquiring a further 1,500 square kilometres (578 square miles) of 3D seismic data offshore The Gambia.

This will expand the company’s 3D multi-client library over the MSGBC basin off north-west Africa, which now totals more than 40,000 square kilometres (15,444 square miles).

The survey covers blocks A2/A5 where the licence holders have identified sub-surface structures on-trend with the SNE oil discovery to the north off Senegal.

TGS will reprocess and pre-stack merge the data into the Jaan programme, a 29,000-square kilometre (11,197-square mile) 3D data-set covering the prospective paleo-shelf edge.
