TGS going ahead with offshore north-west Europe 3D survey

TGS plans to start the Atlantic Margin 20 (AM20) 3D acquisition programme offshore north-west Europe this summer.

The Polarcus Adira, said to be fully optimised for high lateral resolution recording and with two 11-kilometre (6.81-mile) streamers for full waveform inversion (FWI), will acquire the data as soon as the sea opens, TGS said.

Fasttrack data should then be available during 4Q 2020, followed by delivery of final pre-stack time migration (PSTM) products by 3Q 2021 and final pre-stack depth migration (PSDM) products in April 2022.

The 5,600-square kilometre (2,162-square mile) campaign, which should take more than 90 days to complete, is an extension of Atlantic Margin surveys acquired between 2017 and 2019.

AM20 covers the newly awarded PL1057 licence in the Norwegian Sea and extends west to open acreage where there are indications of promising structural prospects.

The project is supported by industry funding.
