Barents Sea helicopters feature night-time visual capability

A new helicopter services contract took effect on the 1st Septermber in the Barents Sea between Eni Norge, in partnership with Equinor, and Bristow Norway.

 

Bristow’s contract includes services related to crew changes and SAR (search and rescue) for both companies from their its base.

 

The two helicopters to be supplied have upgraded security systems, such as a flat-mounted camera and improved data transfer in the air, and the latest warning and navigation systems.

 

In addition, the SAR helicopter – a new feature in Norway – will be equipped with Night Vision Goggles (NVG) technology allowing the crew to see in the dark, a first for the oil and gas industry offshore Norway.

 

The aircraft will provide services to the Goliat field and to the Equinor-operated Johan Castberg field, where Eni Norge has a 30% interest.

 

The contract is for five years, extendable by up to three years.
