BHP finds more deep-water gas offshore Trinidad and Tobago

BHP says its deep-water Victoria-1 well has found gas offshore Trinidad and Tobago.

This was the first well of a Phase 2 exploration drilling campaign to assess further the commercial potential of the Magellan play, following the earlier LeClerc gas discovery.

On completion of Victoria-1 well, the Deepwater Invictus will drill the Bongos prospect offshore northern Trinidad and Tobago.

Elsewhere, BHP expects to spud the first appraisal well at the deep-water Trion field in the Mexican sector during the December quarter.

It has also received fast-track data from a 3D seismic survey over the Exmouth sub-basin offshore Western Australia. Final processed data is due to be delivered during the September quarter.
