BIMCO publishes first Offshore Decommissioning Contract

BIMCO has published the new DISMANTLECON contract which is the first international standard contract designed for the dismantling and removal of offshore structures in the energy sector.

It has been approved by BIMCO’s documentary committee and was released earlier this week, together with guidance notes.

DISMANTLECON can be used for the removal of offshore field architecture in the oil or gas sector, including pipelines, mattresses, manifolds, jackets, topsides, platforms and monopole structures.

It is not intended to cover the disposal of the decommissioned item or plug & abandonment work.

Sarah Wallace, who is a Claims Director at the Standard Club was a member of the BIMCO subcommittee who assisted in drafting the contract together with representatives from marine contractors, marine service providers, brokers and an energy company.

Further details are provided on the BIMCO website.
