EU ratifies Baltic Pipe gas export system

Gaz-System and Energinet have signed a co-financing agreement with the EU Innovation and Networks Executive Agency for the engineering works for the Baltic Pipe gas project.

Signing of the contract during the recent “Energy Infrastructure Forum” in Copenhagen confirms the EU Member States’ decision of last January to award financial assistance to the project under the EU Connecting Europe Facility.

Baltic Pipe is intended to increase the security and enhance diversification of natural gas supplies and encourage development of an integrated and competitive gas market in the Baltic Sea region and Central and Eastern Europe.

It will transport gas from fields offshore Norway to the Danish and Polish markets, and to end-users in the neighbouring countries.
