Faroe cleared for North Sea Brasse appraisal drilling

Faroe Petroleum has received permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to drill an exploration well on the Brasse Øst prospect in the North Sea.

The semi-submersible Transocean Arctic should spud well 31/7-3 this month in 124 metres (407 feet) of water on production licence 740, east of the Oseberg field.

Faroe is looking to appraise further oil potential in its 31/7-1 Brasse discovery.

Drilling should take at least 38 days to complete.

In addition, the PSA has authorised Aker BP to use the jack-up Maersk Reacher as a quarters facility on the Valhall field in the southern Norwegian North Sea until the end of 2020, to support a high volume of development work at the field.
