Five more South Pars phases approaching start-up

Five phases of the South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf should begin operations from the 21st March onwards, according to Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh.

According to a report by news service Shana, Zangeneh listed phases 13, 14, 22, 23, and 24 (assuming all funding comes through in each case).

Fereydoon Hassanvand, head of Iran’s parliament’s energy committee, said the country would need to invest US$3 billion in completing the remaining South Pars phases.

To date Iran has committed more than $69 billion to the development, and has launched 11 associated offshore platforms since 2015.
