Fugro wins survey work offshore four continents

Fugro has detailed its recent contract awards in the company’s latest results statement.

In the offshore oil and gas sector, the company is performing a geotechnical/environmental survey for Eni’s Agogo field development in block 15/06 off Angola, positioning services in block 52 offshore Suriname under a two-year contract from Petronas Suriname E&P and a geotechnical investigation for OMV New Zealand in the Taranaki basin.

Another new assignment involves various surveys for McDermott Qatar’s North Field Production Sustainability Project.

Fugro’s stake in Seabed Geosolutions remains for sale, and the company expects Seabed’s business to be sold during the first half of 2021.

Last year, after initially operating up to three offshore crews, activities were halted by COVID-19 with the S-79 project in the Middle East suddenly terminated and a planned project in Brazil postponed.

Operations re-started toward the end of 2020 with the mobilisation of Brazil survey team, and with the start of Petrobras’ Sapinhoa programme now imminent, the crew on these projects is firmly booked until the end of 3Q.

Other highlights of Fugro’s contract backlog include a marine site characterisation survey for Excelerate Energy in the Philippines, a geophysical, environmental and geotechnical cable route survey for New England Aqua Ventus for a floating wind park offshore Maine and three geotechnical site investigations for IJmuiden Ver, said to be the Netherland’s largest offshore wind park.
