KrisEnergy reports positive results from latest Wassana-area drilling offshore Thailand

Production from the Wassana oil field in the G10/48 concession in the Gulf of Thailand averaged 4,491 boe/d during the first quarter, according to operator KrisEnergy.

Output was constrained because of damage to a section of a 6-inch subsea flowline, which had to be shut off and replaced, and reduced water injection capacity due to a defect in the main pump.

The pump shaft was subsequently repaired in Singapore and returned to the field for installation.

In March, the jack-up PV Drilling I drilled the Wassana-4 appraisal well to the north of the existing production facilities, encountering net vertical oil pay of 31 feet (9.4 metres) true vertical thickness.

The well was then side tracked to a TD of 5,587 feet (1,703 metres), intersecting 66 feet (20 metres) TVT of net oil pay.

Analysis suggests commercial development of the Wassana North Satellite could be warranted via a tieback to the existing Wassana facilities, KrisEnergy added.
