Lloyd’s Register enters offshore, marine MoU with Chinese shipbuilder

Lloyd’s Register (LR) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) to study, research, and develop marine equipment and technology jointly.

 

The MoU will include research into zero-emission vessel projects and applications which comply with the IMO’s 2050 decarbonisation target.

 

The partners plan to establish a Technology Research Centre in Shanghai to address the challenges of new regulation, and to lead development of smart technologies for use in the global offshore and marine industries.

 

Other goals include assessing use of blockchain and digital twin technologies and ship also evaluate FPSO, propulsion systems, including various clean energy sources and their certification.

 

They will review FLNG, and FSRU design concepts.
