Canopius appoints reinsurance Europe head from Emirates Re

Specialty re/insurer Canopius has appointed Stephan Ott as its new head for Continental Europe, reinsurance.

 

Mr Ott was most recently chief underwriting officer for Emirates Re and has held various senior underwriting positions in his career, particularly in Germany and the Middle East.

 

Canopius offers its clients and brokers capacity across most of the major treaty reinsurance classes of business. The reinsurance team provides global access through its home at Lloyd’s and network of offices in California, New York, Bermuda, Dublin, Zurich and Singapore.

 

Canopius became a privately owned independent company earlier in the year.

 

Aegis London appoints hull book leader from Hiscox

Aegis London has appointed Jonathan Humm as its new class underwriter for marine hull.

He joins from Hiscox where he was deputy hull underwriter.

 

Mr Humm has 12 years of experience in the marine insurance sector. He joined Marsh in 2005 as a marine broker, before moving to Hiscox in 2008 as deputy hull underwriter writing a predominantly open-market blue-water hull book.

 

He also led the development of Hiscox’s cyber strategy within the marine hull class.

 

Mr Humm will report to Aegis’ head of marine and energy, Richard Palengat.

 

CNA Hardy Names French Country Manager

CNA Hardy, a specialist commercial insurance provider for clients within the Lloyd’s and company markets, is has appointed Delphine Leroy as country manager for France.

 

Reporting to Stuart Middleton, CEO Continental Europe, Ms Leroy will be responsible for developing CNA Hardy’s market presence and capabilities across France.

 

JLT Specialty names Roberts as power head

JLT Specialty has appointed Hamish Roberts  to lead its power specialty business.

 

Based in London, Roberts will coordinate with JLT’s power specialists across the globe and will oversee the power business, which combines JLT’s specialist sector knowledge to offer a suite of services to both regulated power companies and independent power producers.

 

Mr Roberts joined JLT in 2014, most recently serving as business development director. Prior to that, he built and led global power practices for both Aon and Marsh.

 

JLT Specialty hires Marsh US energy & power practice leader

JLT Specialty has appointed Rob Hausler as executive vice president, based in Houston.
