Shearwater wins seismic acquisition and processing gig from NPD

Shearwater GeoServices has been awarded a contract for a Barents Sea seismic acquisition survey with full data processing by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).

Shearwater said on the 9th April that its Reveal software, which the NPD uses in-house, will be used for full onboard and onshore processing enabling close collaboration.

Shearwater has previously processed 2D surveys for the NPD in the area and the experience gained will be used to support execution of this new project.

The one-month survey starts in the third quarter of 2019 and will be carried out by the Amazon Conqueror vessel equipped with Isometrix technology.

“We are very pleased to see our combined acquisition and processing services selected by the NPD for their 2019 Barents Sea project,” said Irene Waage Basili, the CEO of Shearwater GeoServices.

It is worth reminding that Shearwater was in February awarded three 4D seismic surveys in the North Sea and Barents Sea by Equinor to be conducted this summer. These surveys will be conducted by Amazon Conqueror and SW Amundsen vessels.

In addition, in March Equinor hired Shearwater for a 4D seismic survey at the Troll unit in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. This survey will also be carried out this summer and Shearwater will be using the Amazon Conqueror seismic vessel for the operation.
