Shell gets clearance for Knarr area well in the North Sea

Norske Shell has received permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to use the semi-submersible Scarabeo 8 for an exploratory well in production licence 373 S in the North Sea.

This will be the ninth well in the licence, which was awarded in January 2006 under Norway’s APA 2005 round. The location is around 20 kilometres (12.4 mi) south of Norske Shell’s Knarr field.

Other partners are Idemitsu Petroleum Norge (25%), Wintershall Norge AS (20%), and DEA Norge AS (10%).
