Spirit cleared to start Oda development drilling in the North Sea

Spirit Energy has approval from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority for the jack-up Maersk Interceptor to start development drilling on the Oda field in the southern Norwegian North Sea.

Oda, in 66 metres (216 feet) water depth on licence PL405, is ten kilometres (6.2 miles) east of Aker BP’s Ula platform which will host production from the development.

This involves installation of a subsea template with two production wells tied back to Ula, and an injection well for pressure support.

The consent covers drilling of wells 8/10-B-1 H, 8/10-B-2 H, and 8/10-B-3 H.

Operations are due to start on the 15th April and continue for 226 days.
